Take A Peek Inside Border Stylo

April 27th, 2010

Border Stylo might be a technology company, but we’re a creative bunch with unique personalities. That’s why we’ve made sure our workspace is comfortable, creative and fun.

I thought I’d take this opportunity to let you peek inside Border Stylo’s doors and see the place that has become our home away from home.

We made sure to put the gumball machines we used at SXSW to good use.

This is only a part of our kitchen, or lounge, as some like to call it. We use this area for a number of things: morning meetings, brainstorming, lunch, challenging games of Connect Four and Jumbling Towers (Jenga wasn’t available) and end-of-the-week ice cream socials and presentations. We’ve also hosted a couple of Ruby events here.

Another one of our thinking lounges. Personally I think it would make a lovely place for a nap. Not that I’ve ever tried that…

Who said our mini conference rooms couldn’t be fun? This is the Monkey Room. Appropriately named don’t you think?

Need a fun way to get downstairs. Why not take the slide?

We have a mix of many cultures in our office, which is great because it provides an opportunity for learning. I know I sound very “after school special,” but it’s very interesting and we often have the chance to taste test some authentic meals.

I’m of the belief that a person’s desk or office tells you a lot about their personality. We’re an eclectic bunch. After a quick trip around the office, here’s what I found:

And last, but certainly not least, Jagger, our office pup. He actually belongs to one of our founders, but he’s an honorary member of the Border Stylo team.

Much like a “what’s in your fridge?” post, we’d love to see what your workspace is like. Feel free to share a picture or tell us about your workspace in the comments!

The monkey room reminds me of the PDS which is now the NSFW show. Granted, it’s still sxePhil.

Also, I think the chess pieces should be in an open area so people can play as they walk by during the day. An ongoing game.

Finally, what the eff are you referring to in the “user validation”? Decatur dozens? Are you making fun of Decatur, Illinois and how it has ample of soy bean that it smells like ass?

phampants The chess game gets moved around from time to time, but it’s mostly our developers who play.

Also, we do not choose the words our Captcha requires you to spell. We feel indifferent about Decatur.

@Michelle If you’d like, I could write a letter explaining why slides in offices are beneficial to employees’ health.
